Trentova-Bay - a charming October goes to an end.

Dear gentle reader.

It is about time that someone from Agropoli writes about its beauties and underlines that in respect of other more famous south-Italian holiday places we seriously don´t have to hide. Instead come to see behind the curtain. I guess you have never heard about Agropoli until visiting this website. The fact that the local athorities haven´t done any publicity whatsoever in the recent decades changed suddenly with the world wide web. The Amalfi and Sorrento Coast is worldknown just because, famous people like Goethe visited this place and wrote about it. But, back then, Naples and Salerno the two major cities in the italian region Campania surrounding the Sorrento and Amalfi Coast had no huge contaminate industry. Naples to the north and Salerno to the south. Be sure, that I wouldnt swim any closer to Marseille than St.Tropez. Now, can anybody tell me, why Amalfi with just 5500 inhabitants, hill located districts, a few "bloody expensive" tacky shops, bars, restaurants and a cathedral, close enough to the commercial port of Salerno can be of any more interest than a one day trip ? Honestly, I dont even want to try any fish or the catch of the day in a restaurant there ! The most famous picture of Amalfi is a hill side picture over the bay and it would, both literally and figuratively, take ages to walk on foot down to Amalfi. Imagine walking up ??? As this seems a very complicated subject I therefor prefer to write about Agropoli and its beauties in disguise.

Trentova Bay:

Trentova Bay is one of those beauties and got its name from a legend. This legend tells, that inside the caves carved in the seaside part of the huge rock which is located right hand side and opens the sandy bay, where found 30 sea-gull eggs. 30 in italian is trenta, eggs is uova. By connecting the two words we have no bad eggs, but trent-ova !

The clean sandy beach with its clean cyrstal clear water is very child-friendly and absolutely lovly. It remains shallow for quite some distance out and has no dangerous current. Swimming is possible from end of April to mid November. Beach arrangements from 15.th July to 1.st of September. Trentova Bay has a Blue Flag award which you can check here:

During the side seasons the only few taking a swim at Trentova Bay are locals. It is not rare to see foreign tourists owning the whole beach with their kids.

It has been again a fascinating October 2008. As every year this is my preferred month. Absolute gorgeous weather contributes every year to my perfect break. The sun not too hot, the water still warm enough and swimming and sunbathing are really enjoyable. As for me and many others here in Agropoli the side seasons like May, June, September and October are the best months in year. Some already found out, now it´s your turn ....

Yours
