Dear Raffaele.

Well we have now returned home and our thoughts are to let you know how we enjoyed our stay in the apartment San Francisco. I think your attention to our well being was very appreciated, even to the point of presenting me with a bottle of wine for my birthday, was extremely thoughtful, thank you!

The apartment was of a very good standard and size and as the temperatures outside were in their 30's, (well it was August!), very welcome as we had some air conditioning and the apartment is fully tiled which keeps the heat down.

The apartment is very well situated to explore the many archaelogical sites in the area, the Cilento National Park, Naples and many more places too numerous to mention.

In conclusion, it is so nice to stay somewhere where things work, whether it be cooking a meal in one evening or accessing a pursuit nearby.

Thank you Raffaele, we will spread the word!

Dear Raffaele & Marion,

This was Eilish and my first visit to the south of Italy and we found it to be a truly great experience. The Agropoli area was beautiful, the people friendly, the food and wine excellent and unfortunately the draught beer in short supply.

We had a wonderful time and the accommodation was lovely. We stayed in the San Francisco apartment, which was well furnished and decorated and very comfortable. You Raffaele were very helpful, cheerful and real pleasure to meet. Marion was lovely, friendly and great to meet. We wish you both continued success and happiness in this magnificent area.

We certainly hope to return again in the near future and of course would definitely want to stay with you.

Again many thanks and looking forward to seeing you again,

Kindest regards to both of you,

Gerry & Eilish Delahunt

How we discovered Agropoli.

We stayed for 5 days from 15-20 March 2008 in the penthouse apartment. The weather was generally cool with some heavy rain and some very warm rain-free days with hot sunshine.

Agropoli is a three part town: the long sandy beach area of San Marco with bars and restaurants, the busy day-to-day town with a modern car-free shopping area and marina, and the charming, mostly unchanged, medieval town, a tangle of narrow streets and steps clustered around the castle. We have holidayed in Italy before but never in the south and thought that it might be nice to visit Naples. We found a very good flight deal and booked it before looking for accommodation. However once we started to research accommodation we quickly decided that staying in Naples might not be a good idea so decided on Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast, and booked an apartment at Sant Agata, a small town on the hills above Sorrento. Thinking that it would be good to see some more of southern Italy we decided to split our stay. Googling we found the area of Cilento, an area little mentioned in the guide books that we had but sounding very pleasant so decided on spending some time in that area. Again through Google searches we found discovery-agropoli and its apartments. The location sounded right, not too far from Naples, the accommodation looked to be good quality and the reviews were glowing.

Raffaele the owner works as a fisherman and as such his life is governed by the rules of the sea; he has to respond day-to-day to the conditions; he cannot just sit and await the arrival of guests. These really are self contained apartments with no concierge or cleaning services available but if there is a problem Raffaele is always available by mobile phone, on the occasions that I had to call him whilst we were staying he answered straight away. On the day before were leaving we arranged a time the following day to return the keys and for the fuel meters to be read and the return of the cash bond we had deposited on the day we arrived, this all worked very well. Despite having gone out to sea in the early morning Raffaele was back ten minutes before the arranged time.

The apartment was as described on the website, even the floor-plan and dimensions are given. We stayed in the lovely penthouse which is totally self-contained covering the whole of the top floor.

The access is up two flights of stairs onto an east-facing balcony. The entry, through an extremely secure multi-locking door, leads straight into a very a spacious open-plan living room with a polished tiled floor, a well equipped kitchen/dinner, gas range, electric oven, dishwasher, ample cooking implements and pans, breakfast table and plenty of crockery.

The lounge has a large TV with satellite receiver, radio and music player, DVD player with a small range of films and even a few paperbacks. Off this area is a pleasant room with a dinning table and computer desk. This room has views over a vineyard to a panoramic vista of the coast. To the right, over the long sandy beach of San Marco you can see the distant mountains chain of the Amalfi Coast and to the left over the busy town is the castle topped mediaeval old town on the hill. There is a sliding picture window that opens out onto a south facing balcony on which we sat in the sunshine and took in the view during the day, and at night, with the moon reflected on the bay and the twinkling lights of the town below it was really delightful to just sit there.

Off the room is a nicely furnished bedroom with twin beds air-conditioning/heater and French windows onto the north-west facing balcony which it shares with the master bedroom which is similar to the other except it has a double bed with a very comfortable mattress and good-quality cotton bed linen.

The final room is the bright bathroom with a Velux type window that allows the room to flood with sunlight in the morning and was equipped with soft towels and a hairdryer.

The whole of the apartment has a continuous level polished tiled floor and is tastefully decorated with white and soft pastels. Plenty of electrical sockets of the two round pin type. There is full gas central heating with radiators in every room. The thermostat can easily be set to raise or lower the temperature. Gas also heats the water and the cooking range and is metered, any use over the allotted amount is charged for at the end of the stay. I can't imagine that this would be a concern in the summer as even in March we only used a minimal amount of added heat to take the chill off when we got back in the evening. There are air-conditioners in the main area and one in each of the bedrooms. As mentioned the roof does slope on both sides but the apartment is large enough so that it should not be a problem. There are easily accessed balconies on three sides so there is always a sunny outside space to sit (provided that the sun is shining of course). It is extremely secure, as is the remotely locked gate into the property and the ample car parking right next to the building. There is also a communal room with a washing machine.

We only saw the penthouse apartment but talking with another couple who were staying they were also extremely pleased with the quality, size and facilities and of course the views they had from their apartment. I’d suggest that car would be essential, unless you just plan to relax in the apartment. It is walkable into Agropoli, about 2 kilometer, it took us about twenty minutes to the beach, half an hour to the town centre and forty five minutes to the old town, but the walk through the back streets is not too interesting and the walk back up the very steep lane was exhausting, even in the cool month of March, I’d dread it in the summer heat. If you intend driving the routes into the Cilento they are quickly and easily reachable in a few minutes and if you choose self-catering there are plenty of shops selling fresh fish, veg and bread in the town and a well stocked EuroSpar supermarket is about ten minutes drive, near the railway station.

Just a note on our general impressions of the area:

We had gone to this part of Italy with great expectations of the Sorrento/Amalfi area being the attractive best part of our holiday and guarded but hopeful expectations for Cilento being a pleasant addition. Our experience was that Sorrento/Capri/Amalfi were definitely worth a one time visit but I think they are over-sold, over-busy and over-priced with too much traffic, too much urban sprawl (almost continuous from Naples to Sorrento) and too much eye on the tourist opportunities. In contrast the very close Cilento area was understated with many still charming corners to seemingly “just discover”. The Cilento coast is relaxing; with a fraction of the traffic it was pleasant to drive through the countryside and along the spectacular coastal roads, and the value for money (especially at this time when the pound is at an all-time low against the Euro) is remarkable, similar meals were half if not less than in high-priced Sorrento. If we return to this part of the world again I know where we’ll start our holiday.

All the best

Dear Raffaele.

We were very pleased with the apartment Copenhagen. It was clean and modern and had everything that we needed. We have enjoyed sitting on the balcony in the evening with a bottle of wine admiring the views. During the week we were able to visit Pompeii, Vesuvius, Herculaneum, Paestum, Capri and the Cilento National Park. Il Ceppo Restaurant is highly recommended for food and service.

Many thanks for your help and advice.

Dear Raffaele.

A quick note to say how much we enjoyed our holiday in the apartment Copenhagen.

As so many people before us have said, it had absolutely everything we could have needed, lots of space, and most particularly the lovely view over the bay from the balcony. Our favourite time was as the lights started to be switched on across the headland. It was lovely to enjoy the sun for a couple of weeks, and as it's raining here, again, we're tempted to book the next flight to Naples. Enjoy your favourite time of year!

We spent a week in the region, visiting the port and old town of Agropoli as well as some surroundings - Pompeii, Sorrento, the Amalfi Coast and nearby Santa Maria Castellabate. Agropoli is a charming place with great seafood - some spectacular scenery in the region. All considered a very pleasant stay.

Visitor´s book: 12th to 19th of April 2007:

Well, what a wonderful week we have had. Our goal on booking: Visit the Amalfi Coast - that´s the big attraction- with a previous attempt in Sorrento, which has been a disaster, we ended up in Agropoli. Impressions from this website - "This looks gorgeous"- it is. The accomodation is beautiful, spacious and well equipped, the views are fantastic, Raffaele is an extremly generous and helpful host and the best yet - we hardly had time to visit the Amalfi Coast. Cilento offers exquiste scenery which successfully rivals the Costiera Amalfitana and then surpasses it effortlessly, with the lack of tourist busses and traffic on the narrow roads. This plus the local lack of parking in any of the towns (and this is only April) led us "escaping" from Amalfi as if we had just come out of a "warzone". For those who wish that experience, the distance to the Amalfi Coast is easy.

Agropoli and surroundings is a fabulous area, rich in history and beauty, offering so much more than the Amalfi Coast, and "discovery-agropoli" is a most beautiful and pleasant accomodation from which to start.

We look forward to returning in the very near future. A presto e tanto grazie.

A truly remarkable find on the internet, a lovely location for a relaxing holiday. Our first trip to Italy as a family has been a memorable one for many reasons. Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast are a must for any visitor to this part of the world.

Our first impressions of Agropoli on arrival were mixed, but once night falls the town comes alive and a walk around the harbour and the old town shouldn´t be missed. Apartment London was comfortable and the view from the balcony second to none.

To sum up - Highly recommeded as a place for anyone wishing to visit this part of Italy.

Enjoyed a day on the beach.

We enjoed it all ! Especially people watching in the square in Agropoli whilst drinking lovely coffee. Thanks for the guide books and all the info you provided. The apartment San-Francisco was very clean and comfortable. This place was just right.

Anna´s Pizzeria is a gluten free heaven for celiae disease and has the best gluten free pizza ever. Paestum was very convenient and the ruins very impressive. Dear Raffaele,

This was our first visit to the south of Italy and we have throughly enjoyed ourselves. The Penthouse Apartment was exactely as described on the website and Raffaele is the perfect host. It´s great to have local restaurant recommendations and we can endorse Raffaele´s comments on the restaurants we visited.

This is a particularly good spot for anyone who enjoys both a cultural and a beach holiday - the Bay of Trentova was great - the sea is very child friendly, remaining shallow for quite some distance out. It is also wonderful warm.

We wish you all the best and would have no hesitation in recommending discovery-agropoli to our friends.

Dear Raffaele

Thank you very much for a lovely stay. The apartment San-Francisco has been everything we expected and needed, it was nice to have all linen and towels supplied. We enjoyed relaxing on the balcony and being away from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist areas. Saying this, we loved driving around the Amalfi Coast and visiting all well known sites, including Paestum and Pompeii. But at the end of it all, too return to a peaceful location was a nice end of the day. We loved the reccommandation of the restaurant " Il Ceppo" where we dined twice. Thank you for all your assistance, it was above and beyond what you normally get and it was very much appreciated.

We wish you every success with discovery-agropoli.

This visit to south Italy was one of my most unforgetable trips to Italy thanks to this beautiful apartment, gorgeous weather and Raffaele. I can´t thank you enough for getting a blow dryer soon after my request.

During my stay in Agropoli I indulged myself in Chinotto ( italian version of Coke/Dr.Pepper) marinated artichokes from local deli, sweets like Babá and Cannoli ... to name a few. Dining at il Ceppo, one of the recommended restaurants by Raffaele was simply fabulous.

I´ve visited Paestum, Sorrento, Positano, Ravello, Alberobello, Matera, Pompeii and Napoli, and Agropoli was just a perfect base. In Agropoli I was pleasantly surprised by beautiful backstreets and hilltop views overlooking the port.

The penthouse apartment exceeded my expectations to a great extent. Spotlessly clean, breath-taking views from the balcony, excellent facilities, a very comfortable sofa, DVD player ... the list goes on.

All in all I had a great time here in Agropoli and the surrounding cities and will happily recommend Raffaele´s apartments to all potential travellers to south-Italy.

We had a wonderful time and are looking forward meeting you again in Italy or maybe in Tokyo.

The apartment Copenhagen lived up to our expectations as seen on the website, spacious and well equipeed. We were able to eat breakfast each day on the terrace whilst enjoying the fabulous view.

We have never been to southern Italy but found this area most charming and beautiful. This was helped by splendid weather for our entire stay. We visited - Paestum - to be recommended, the Amalficoastaldrive and Amalfi itself. The drive was breathtaking but scary and pleased we were in a small car. Amalfi is touristy - less for Agropoli which we found absolutely refreshing. We also enjoyed Santa Maria Castellabate and San Marco. We also visited 3 of the restaurants on Raffaeles list and all were as good as the descriptions.

From our initial enquiry, throughout our stay Raffaele has been most helpful. We will be recommending these apartments to friends on our return and hope to come back sometime.

Particular thanks for helping solve our car problems which otherwise would have caused us much inconvenience.

We stayed in the San-Francisco - a beautiful apartment, tastefully decorated, light, spacious and airy with fabulous views and everything needed in the kitchen.

We have enjoyed our stay in this most beautiful part of Italy. Raffaele has been an excellent host ensuring we were well equipped with books and informations on the area. Nothing was too much trouble. We believe we wisely chose not to compete with the italian drivers and as a consequence had a delightful journey from Naples Airport to Agropoli and have greatly enjoyed travelling by train from Agropoli to all places of interest. This we would reccommend to anyone not wishing to drive. Raffaele put us in touch with a charming taxi driver who ferried us whenever and whereever we wished. What a lovely lady.

The apartment London is to be highly recommend being very well equipped with everything needed in the kitchen and very adequate towels and high class bed-linen.We very much appreciated the mosquito nets and the fans.

The view from our balcony has been absolutely wonderful - the sunsets will remain with us as a happy memory for years to come.

Dear Raf.

We’ve arrived safe and sound back home. Thank you for a brilliant week, which went by too quickly. We didn’t manage to write our comment in the visitor’s book and after a long trip home talking and discussing our vacation over, we definitely agree in what you promote, publish and try to boost on your website. We felt highly appreciated with our arrival and it is with great pleasure that we affirm truth and content of your website. Doubtless, it is a magic view and reality of the comfortable apartment San-Francisco was even better than in the description or the pictures on the website - in other words: a little home away from home. Agropoli is a small but lively seaside town and while being in Rafs Villa it was nice to be able to choose whether to relax on the balcony or enjoy Agropolis beachlife during the day or the nightlife in pubs or discos. It was amazing how easy and short the drive to Herculaneum was. For Amalfi and Capri we used the hydrofoil which was ridiculously cheap. Within an hour drive by car we could reach all sightseeing places north and south in the area and the temples of Paestum at night were our highlight. Again a big thank you for all informations regarding hydrofoil, trains and places worth a visit. The restaurants recommendations were spot on. Privacy and selfhood on the balcony was superb and the relaxing evening drink with the spectacular view on Agropoli to the left and Capri in the sunset to the right will stay with us for a long time ! In our spare time we have enjoyed the local beach in Trentova very much - especially during the late afternoon at the return of our day trips.

A personal note regarding an other accommodation: At the same time we inquired with you, we had send many inquiries regarding accommodation for the Cilento, Amalfi and Sorrento area. Needless to say that prices for Amalfi and Sorrento forced us to have a closer look a littler further south. With your online ad, we found another promising accommodation just a few miles further south of Agropoli. Being in such a beautiful part of Italy we decided our intend to come back next year exploring a little more. Having said that, we set up a meeting with the manager of this other, for us interesting Villa - visiting the other holiday accommodation personally was no big effort while being in Agropoli - to help make up our minds and decide. Upon arrival, we couldn’t hide the big surprise. Comparing it always to a description of an internet ad, reality was nothing else than quite disapponting. Some conscienceless property owners seem simply free to write whatever they want and sound good. Now, that we´re back home we revisited online the ad and only little lived up to the online advertisement: the SS18 passes by very close, every Villa with its accommodations is shared by 4 flats with no whiff of privacy whatsoever. As for the pool, it welcomed way too many people for our taste and being without in your place didn’t really bother us as we do not appreciate splashing with other people. We had the blue sea so close. As for the views from the accomodation, they didn’t really match the angle of the published pictures and the quick walk inside an available ground floor apartment revealed some poor quality amenities ( we could hear thrugh the thin walls inside the flat clearly the neighbour kids laughing and shouting ) and in the end your comments on many self-catering apartments in Italy were absolutely right- at least for us. Thanks again Raffaele for a brilliant week and for running discovery-agropoli. Your website saved us a detestable holiday experience due to your local knowledge.

We will highly recommend your Villa with it’s lovely apartments to friends and family here in the Netherlands and hope to see you again next year.

Raffaele, first thanks a lot for being the truly perfect host. Arriving from the Amalfi Coast ( Positano), we have really enjoyed our time here in Agropoli. Agropoli is more childfriendly and way more affordable under all economical aspects ! Excellent beaches ( Trentova and Santa Maria ), restaurants, shopping (market on thursdays) and local wine tasting (thanks again for your help) has kept us busy for a week. The fine appointments of the apartment Copenhagen offer more you need during the holiday ( with great equipped kitchen next to great views of the apartment)

We will truly recommend this holiday accomodation and Agropoli to friends and family.

What a fabulous place ! Just as described on the website. The views of the apartment San-Francisco are truly amazing and the apartment is spacious and extremly comfortable. Despite the summer heat, sleeping was comfortable thanks to the mosquito nets on windows and fans. We had a marvelous holiday here with two teenage daughters, the area has everything the Amalfi Coast has except the expense and the tourists ! We definetly want to come back to explore further. Raffaele has been marvelous ! His insider knowledge, tips and advice make such a difference. He made us feel so welcome even to the extent of printing out directions to a restaurant in Capaccio.

Thanks Raffaele, and we will see you again.

Clients-Notebook: 15.th of July 2006:

We have had a great time whilst visiting Agropoli. From the moment we drove up to the gates of the villa we were beginning to think we had made a great choice. The apartment San-Francisco in the Villa was spacious, clean and very tastefully decorated. To confirm that booking the apartment in the Villa Leone was such a great decision, the view of Agropoli as Raffaele rightly boast´s, is amazing. During the day you have a great view of the sea and the town, great to wake up to, and at night the lights shining across from the town are perfect to sit and drink wine on the spacious balcony.

We spent 7 nights at the Villa which wasn´t enough, there is much more we wish to explore ! Definetly we will be back sometime in the future !

We will definetly be recommending the Villa to friends and family in the UK !

Corrie, Alun, Angela and Emma from Staffordshire in the UK

P.S. Thank you Raffaele for your help, both during the week and whilst booking.

Clients-Notebook: 14.th of July 2006:

Agropoli, is an excellent "base camp" for exploring the Cilento and Amalfi Coast. It is easy to take a boat to Capri and Amalfi; it would be a suicide to go to Amalfi by car this time a year. Even if we Finns are wold famous rally drivers ( Markus Grönholm, Kimmi Räikkönen etc..) we were first surprised by the Italian way of driving.

The apartment London was a very good choice for the four of us. Raffaele was really helpful and friendly and gave us many sightseeing advices.

Italian food was worth its reputation, we enjoyed pizzas, pastas, sea food, local mozzarella, ice cream ....

This was our first time in Italy and we feel that we really discovered it.

Clients-Notebook: 8.th of July 2006:

We have enjoyed our week in Agropoli very much - Apartment Copenhagen is a comfortable, well appointed base from which to explore the wonder of the Cilento and Amalfi regions.

The apartment had everything we needed to relax after the vigours of Rome and it was good to "come home" to after hot days traipsing around the likes of Paestum and Pompeii.

Capri is a must - take your life in your hand and drive the Amalfi Coast road. It is an experience you will never forget !

Paestum is wonderful - so accessible and tangible - a real delight.

Pompeii is also an experience - but go well prepared for a long day if you want to make the most of it.

So, thank you Raffele - the perfect host ! Knowledgeable, informative and always there to help and assist if needed. His local knowledge undoubtedly saved us much time and no doubt, prevented a couple of fractious moments trying to suss out the locale.

PS: Raffaele, the apartment is great and the view is really beautiful - PPS: Italy for the World Cup !!!

Clients-Notebook: 1.st of July 2006:

Dear Raffaele.

Many thanks again for a wonderful holiday. Agropoli was even better the second time around ! We´ve spent two of the most relaxing weeks we can remember. Having done the major sightseeing tours last year, we were able to kick-back completely this year and enjoy the apartment and the wonderful beaches nearby to their fullest.

Having said that we did manage to drag ourselves off the sun lounger to enjoy our trip to the buffalo / mozzarella cheese farm. The winery, shopping in Salero- not as much fun as the market in Agropoli on Thursday morning - and for a day out on the Cilento Explorer. The latter a boat trip you shouldn´t miss. A but on the expensive side but well worth the money. And we think only expensive because so much else about Agropoli is such good value for money.

On a personal note, Robert and I would like to thank you so much for your hospitality in the apartment Copenhagen again this year. You have been wonderful at organizing some visits for us and for having the patience to help Robert with interpreting at the Carabinieri station when he lost his camera. This year truly felt that we were revisting friends.

We hope to be back next year - discovering more about Agropoli.

Our very best wishes to you.

Clients-Notebook: 29.th of June 2006:

We had a super relaxing holiday although the weather was too hot to explore some of the places we intended to visit. We were very grateful for the air conditioning ! The penthouse accomodation is lovely, spacious and airy with everything you could need. The little extras, like salt and pepper, were particularly welcome. We spent many hours on the balcony enjoying the views, particularly at night, with a glass of something appropiate.

The Amalfi Coast was worth seeing but we were very glad we had elected to come to Agropoli, away from the throngs of tourists and tacky shops. Paestum was brilliant - but it is also well worth seeing after dark when it is floodlit and looking absolutely spectecular.

We loved Palinuro and the boat trip around the caves. Also St. Maria Castellabate and its sister hilltop town. A trip deep into the Cilento National Park is a must, the scenery is glorious and the villages worthy of exploration.

Raffaele has been extremly helpful and informative - from booking through to recommendations as to where to eat. His English is excellent.

Il Cormorano is a special place to eat - but we had really good food everywhere we went, without exception. Local wines are also very good - particularly when enjoyed in the vibrant atmosphere of Agropoli at night.

Doubtless we shall be back - and will recommend to friends and family

We have enjoyed our stay very much. The apartment San-Francisco is clean and spacious and the view of the sea is wonderful. We loved visiting Paestum (very close by) ! Raffaele´s suggestions to visit Palinuro was great - we got right on a boat and enjoyed the 4 Grottos very much. Santa Maria Castellabate was a wonderful beach we enjoyed too. The apartments San-Francisco and Pharaon are nicely decorated and San-Francisco is spacious and worked well for our son who uses a wheelchair. We very much enjoyed this part of Italy.

We have had a wonderful holiday here ! Were to start ... the apartment London is great. We loved it the moment we walked in and there is everything you need for a comfortable stay. We will miss sitting on the balcony overlooking the bay with a cool drink in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening. We have had many trips out. We have climbed Vesuvious - not too strenuous. We went to Pompeii twice and really enjoyed each visit, but do take your sturdy walking shoes as it makes going round so much easier. We found going out to the panoramic view and then on to the Villa of the mysterious well worth the effort. We found parking at Vesuvious and pompeii no problem - we found paking on a campsite at Pompeii for 5 Euros for the afternoon which we though very reasonable. It was opposite the Porta di Stabia entrance and was very convenient. Paestum we thought was as just as lovely and thouroghly enjoyed our afternoon there. For those who like their shopping even when on holiday Auchan near Torre Annunziata and Carrefour near Battipaglia are great fun and we enjoyed calling in on our way back from days out.

We have had a really great time here and the friendly welcome from Raffaele and the realxing atmosphere and lovely appartment have added so much to that. We would love to come back and explore this area some more.

Thank you Raffaele for making this such a great place !

Have had a great week, a mixture of relaxing on the balcony and visiting local sites. We are on a 14 month holiday so have really enjoyed the place. There is so much to see in this world and so many countries to visit but thanks to Raffaele for the warm welcome and hospitality.

Since our ancestor´s are from the "south of Italy" we felt at home here. Raffaele was a a very gracious host. The penthouse apartment and views are very scenic.

We did a lot of daytrips with one to Auletta and to the Amalfi Coast. Agropoli in adddition to its own beauty is an ideal location to venture along the coast or inland.

Nights were pleasantly cool for sleeping with no problems.

We plan to return next year !

Thanks for a great place, your hospitality - we enjoyed our stay !

Our visit to Agropoli started off with our delight at the astonishing view from the balcony ! We had seen the pictures on the internet of the apartment San-Francisco, but being here, the real view was even better than we had expected. The apartment was very nice, elegant and bright. We explored the beaches and enjoyed the sand, sun and sea ! The ruins at Paestum were amazing. We were astounded they were there after 2500 years. The Amalfi Coast was a great drive. Thanks for a great place to stay while we explored this area of Italy.

Gary, Linda, Brittney and Preston Orme - Calgary -Canada

Clients-Notebook: 11.th of May 2006:

After a long, cold winter we were in need of a warm, relaxing holiday. We decided to take a flight to Napoli, only about an hour from Alsace in France and then set about looking for somewhere to stay. After a brief serach on the internet we came across Raffaele´s website and were so impressed by what we saw that we made a booking straight away. A few hours later, Raffaele called us to confirm everything. Efficiency we were to appreciate on our arrival.

The apartment London was excellent - well equipped and literally a small home-from-home. Immediately we felt welcomed and knew we were for a great holiday. Views from the balcony are stunning, day or night, and we all looked forward to breakfast on our open-air dining room.

Agropoli has been a great place to visit. Our son is only 2 and 1/2 years old so we were little limited to what we could explore - every morning he would wake up demanding to go to the beach ! Raffaele suggested Trentova bay, so much of our time was spent there - sometimes we would be the last to leave ! Fantastic clear water and so much to explore where you´ve only little. A visit in Paestum is a must. A facinating insight to the history of the area.

I´m sure we have not done justice to the region as there is much, much more to see but we have achieved our ojective - relax . We will be coming back when our son is older and his attention span allows us to explore the region fully.

Thanks for a wonderful time

Richard, Lynsey & Lewis Allen - FRANCE

P.S. Restaurant recommendations were spot-on. Food and service was excellent !

Clients-Notebook: 14.th of April 2006:

We have had an interesting week seeing the many excavations in the area. Paestum, only 4 miles from Agropoli is unmissable with its amazing examples of Greek-Roman temples and fabulous tomb paintings in the museum. Pompeii was marvellous as expected although a long day of walking and exploring. Going South from Agropoli along a a very windy road to Velia - also worth a visit where you can see excavations in progress and an old medievil tower built on the site of a greek temple.

Other sights such as Vesuvius - The climb to the crater was well worth the effort and not too strenuous- but i would advice arriving early as parking could be a problem by mid-day.

The drive from Vesuvius to Sorrento afforded wonderful views across the bay of Naples - picture postcard stuff ! Then across the ridge to the Amalfi Coast where its amazing to see so many towns clining to the vertical rockface !

The apartment San-Francisco is very well equipped, very comfortable, spacious and has wonderful views across the bay of Salerno. Raffaele, picked us at 2.30 in the morning and was very helpful and friendly. We have had a brilliant time - Many thanks.

Janet Edwards - Swindon England

Clients-Notebook: 4.th of April 2006:

We have had a really good week sightseeing and trying local restaurants. The trains are good and cheap and we could get to Salerno, Pompeii and Naples easily on them. There are plenty of good restaurants doing proper cilentano food and Raffaele has his own list of them. We have done Pompeii, Ercolano, Salerno, Paestum, and Velia with the Cilento. There is loads more to see and do but we´ve ran out of time.

The apartment London is reasonably priced, well equipped and comfortable. It is great to have an evening G + T on the balcony and see the sunset over the bay and the town lighting up. Raffaele is a mine of information and the website and the instructions getting here really worked.

Being English we were particularly glad to see Kettle, Toaster and egg cups - often absent in the Med.

Thanks to Raffaele for a most enjoyable stay.

From the height of the old town to the promenade along the seashore, Agropoli is a delighful place to experience Bella Italia. Agropoi lies in close proximity to numerous breath taking destinations like Pompeii and Paestum.

Raffaele was very helpful from meeting us in town, lead us to the apartment with its spectecular views to assisting with directions and suggestions for day trips. We have had a wonderful time here in Agropoli and will miss the people as well as the surroundings very much.

Clients-Notebook: 19.th of March 2006:

What a wonderful week here in Agropoli ! We enjoyed a very full week exploring the area and found it very close to the big sites of interest. We visited Pompeii and fantastic Amalfi Coast as well as charming towns like Palinuro, Santa Maria Castellabate and mountain towns too numerous to mention. Paestum was definetly worth more time exploring. The weather was a litlle chilly in March but th sunny days were very nice and we enjoyed the slower pace and minimal traffic of low season. We would definetely come back another time to continue the Agropoli Adventure.

Thanks to Raffaele for all his help - it is quite unique to find such a helpful owner and well equipped facilities.

Clients-Notebook: 18.th of March 2006:

discovery-agropoli is well named ! From the helpful information and pictures on the Internet to the warm welcome and personal introduction by Raffaele upon our arrival we felt comfortable with our surroundings.

The Penthouse apartment is fabulous ! The views from all of the windows spectacular, espacially memorable was the full moon over the bay and the pretty lights of Agropoli from the dining room window. We had two lovely dinners with our family in the spacious room. All of the facilities were spottless and effiecient.

The trade-off with the cool weather was true ability to see everything unencumbered by crowds of tourists. Every town, the countryside, food and people save us a grand sense of Southern Italy and the ancient times of the Roman Empire though our visit was brief. The Villa of discovery-agropoli made it a place to remember and return to !

Raffaele, we thank you for your hospitality on our recent visit. Agropoli is a charming little town. We spent several days walking through the various streets and enjoyed the people very much.

Agropoli, a central location for visiting lots of places. The penthouse apartment Maisonette is very well equipt and has superb views over Agropoli an over the entire coast round to the Amalfi Coast and Capri.

We had no trouble at all booking the appartment on-line. Raffaele is extremly helpful and speaks very good english. He made us feel exceedingly welcome and answered all our questions, no matter how trivial. There was no problem at all about him meeting us at Agropoli Nord on our arrival. We phoned him and he duly arrived within minutes to guide us to the appartment.

We stayed over Christmas holiday and couldn´t believe just how many shops, bars and restaurants were open on Christmasday as well as the churchs ! There was no problem finding food and wine for the Christmas period. The local supermarkets, shops and fishmongers are well stocked.

From Agropoli there is easy access by road (and rail) to the Amalfi coasted area, Naples, Pompeii etc, as well as the Cilento Coast - well worth visiting, and inland. Another place to visit is Grotte di Castelcivita, up in the hills a wonderful series of caves.

We wouldn´t hesitate to visit Agropoli again and stay with Raffaele at discovery-agropoli. Our Christmas stay was totally unrestricted by access to places to visit, all tourist places were open.

Excellent location and apartment

Very relaxing watching Agropoli from the Penthouse balcony (like your own railway and toy town) especially at sunset and dusk. Raffaele,

Hope you are well.  We've been back at work for a good while now and it seems so long ago, but with the weather getting worse (gale force winds and lots of rain forecast for tonight!), I've been visiting your website to remind me of the good holiday we had in September.  We also started our Italian lessons a few weeks ago, so we hope to be able to get a little further than asking for a beer when we come back!

You were absolutely correct about the Amalfi Coast, I was really surprised at how close it was to Agropoli - I just had the impression that it would be a lot further. And our accommodation in Maiori was no-where near as good as Apartment Copenhagen!

We've passed on our recommendations to a few of our friends. We hope to see you ourselves next year.

Keep well. Valerie Mc Vey

Thank you ! Lovely weather contribiuted to an excellent week. Children had a great time, and we visited Pompeii, Paestum, Amalfi - all by public transport. Met some fascinating people on the trains. Palinuro - well worth a visit ! As others have said - very clean apartment, comfortable beds, fantastic views. We had a great time.

We had a great time, Agropoli is a perfect spot to "discover" Cilento and the neighbouring areas. Driving the "italian style" is a liberating experience. Raffaele is a good host, anticipating well, the needs of his guests. Don´t miss Agropoli and its "Centro Storico" and the castle. Capri is magical but alas, no trace of Gracie Field

All the best Raffaele

Clients-Notebook: 5.th of October 2005:

As you drive up the street to the apartments, you wonder where Raffaele is going, but, on arrival, the new makes it all worthwhile. Breathtaking - we spent ages just looking at it. We felt a million miles away but not cut off. The apartment Valletta was spottlessly clean and very well equipped - especially with the kettle ! The main question potential visitors could have is whether Agropoli is close enough to the tourist attractions around Naples. We were able to visit all the obivious places - Capri, Amalfi Coast, Vesuvius, Pompeii, etc, etc ... so the answer is YES ! Capri did demand and early rise but only because hydrofoils are not running from Salerno this time of year ! The bonus for being this far south is that Palinuro is within reach - and the fantastic grottos there. We were so impressed, we spent another day exploring the grottos at Castelcivita and Pertosa in the National Cilento Park. Both amazing ! Raffaele has been so helpful - like tour a guide ( and I mean that as an extraordinary compliment !) We spent a morning chatting about places to visit, and later joined them on a visit to the famous winery DE CONCILIIS, where the Naimi, a special red wine is produced. In conclusion, if ýou were to offer us accomodation on the Amalfi Coast, or Naples, or Salerno or in Agropoli with Raffaele, we would not hesitate to pick Agropoli.

Many thanks,

Thank you Raffaele for a brilliant week. We´ve had quite the most relaxing holiday we´ve had in years. Managed to keep ourselves plenty occupied locally - visited Paestum, Acciaroli and Palinuro. All without venturing to the Amalfi Coast. The apartment Copenhagen is superb - one of the best we´ve been in ( on ten years worth of two-centre holidays ) and we hope to see you again soon. You´ve been marvellous hosts and we´ve seen the effort you both put in - while we´ve been looking about on the balcony. We wish you every success !

We have had an excellent holiday. Agropoli proved to be a superb base to explore the Amalfi and Cilento region. It´s a brilliant place to relax if you feel like a lazy day and the nearby train station makes it easy to get around if you feel like being more active. The apartment London certainly exceeded our expectations and provided stunning views of the coast. Raffaele was an excellent host- very helpful and informative at all times. We would certainly consider returning and will reccomend both Agropoli and the apartments to our friends.

Hi, We have never been to Italy before and this will be a holiday that will stay with us for a long time. Raffaele was excellent and unbelievably helpfull. Ask him to show you the Pizzahouse -Saracin- in the old town. SUPERB ! Get in your car and head south to Palinuro. That is a beautiful bay, marina and beach. We have booked up our holiday in the penthouse apartment for next year which says it all ! What a great base for the makings of a great holiday. Wonderful penthouse suite, wonderful friendly people, roll on next year.

Great accomodation ! Spacious, clean and well equippend. The fans were really helpful to keep cool. Raffaele was very helpful and friendly. The driving was an experience and takes me back 15 years to India. Places worth a visit: Paestum, Pompeii, Vesuvius and Capri. Its also worth hunting down some sandy beaches. Amalfi was very busy, Capri not too busy if you go the other side of the Island. We´d certainly recommend Agropoli and this House to stay. Great views at night from the balcony of the San Francisco apartment.

As described by numerous previous guests, the apartment London was very clean & tidy, and equipped with all the necessary "mod cons." Driving is an experience not to be missed !! Two lanes qickly become three or four if the need takes them ! That said, if you copy the "local" style, you soon see that their system works. Raffaele is a great host and nothing is too much trouble... just ask. Local sites worth the trip: Paestum, Pompeii and the grottos of Palinuro (Boat Ride) are easier to reach than Capri... and cheaper !

A wonderful break in the apartment Pharaon. High above Agropoli for afternoons spent looking down over the whole town, or lift your eyes and there is Capri. The Restaurant´s are good and quite cheap; The evenings dining quiet and unrushed. For the energetic Raffaele, who is always ready with his Mini-Bus, but for us Agropoli was enough. The constant rush of people going about their every day business was a pleasure to watch. We have just experienced the most "laid back" seven days of our lives enriched by glorious fresh Sea-Food.

Thank you Raffaele for a relaxed and fun holiday in your wonderful Villa.

Clients-Notebook: 12.th of August 2005

The apartment San Francisco is spacious, light airy, well equipped & spottlessly clean. Lovely sea views from balcony and over to the old town (well worth exploring! ). The local area and region are beautiful and two weeks last not long enough to see everything ! Paestum is a must and snorkeling at Palinuro is brilliant. The local boat service to towns along the coast and to Capri is excellent and good value. The Mini-Bus makes these trips easy. Take a small boat from Palinuro Harbour to see the local grottos. The Explorer Boat Trip also brilliant. Trips to Capri, Pompeii, Herculaneum and Vesuvius are unmissable but Capri VERY expensiv. plenty of places to eat in Agropoli - from budget family eateries to top quality- seafood excellent.

As for Raffaele and his Crew- well, they could have not done more to make our holiday memorable. Nothing was too much trouble and Raffaele´s fluent english made things easy.

A really great holiday - we will be back !!!!!

Booking this wonderful apartment via Raff´s website was very easy with no issues at all. The apartment London is extremly spacious & clean. Agropoli is centraly positioned with some great sandy beaches. We visited Naples, Vesuvius and Pompeii but Paestum and in particular Herculaneum is well worth a visit. Raffaele was always helpful - just ask and he will do his best to help. The boat trip on the Cilento explorer is well worth the money and shows off the fabulous coastline to the south of Agropoli. We had a lovely time here in Agropoli. The peaceful views from our terrace were a welcome refreshing from the hustle bustle of our days. Be sure to explore the old city, in the day and in the evening it is positively enchanting. There is also a great calm beach over by the harbour, particular great for small children.

The apartment Copenhagen was clean, cosy and nice - and Raffaele professional and always helpful - which is wonderful for tourist who arent quite certain at what they are doing.

Visiting the Amalfi Coast is a " must do" ! The island of Capri is incredible and expensive, but unless you are interessted in massive tourisim and high dollar shipping- avoid Capri town and enjoy your self more in Agropoli and enchanting surroundings. Overall we had a wonderful and delightful time here in south-Italy

Thank you discovery-agropoli.

We had a great time here in Agropoli. The Copenhagen apartment was very nice & comfortable with great views of the bay. The old town and the port are nice too. Visited in the evening. Beach at Santa Maria di Castellabate is good and only 15 minutes by car. Would also recommend visiting Palinuro and taking the caves (grotto). The Royal palace - Reggia di Caserta - is spectacular and it is considered better than Versailles and well worth visiting. Thank you very much and all the best for the future.

Raffaele,

I  too was very disappointed not to have travelled to Agropoli but we hope we will get the chance to do so in the future. If we do we will certainly be in contact with you.

I was very impressed with your service, both in terms of replying to queries quickly and responding to our cancellation request according exactely to the Terms & Conditions of your company.

I wish you every success in your venture.

We had a lovely holiday. Nice apartment with lovely views. Agropoli has an excellent train service. We were able to visit Paestum, Pompeii, Salerno Naples and Capri all from this point.

Many thanks

We´ve really enjoyed our time here, although the weather could have been kinder to us. Three bright sunny days were a delight and the highlight of our stay was a visit to the nearby Paestum on such a day. The apartment is warm and cosy and the bed comfortable and difficult to get out on a dark rainy morning. A great relaxin break with plenty to see and to do out of season. Thank you

Dear Raffaele,

I write to say many thanks for the way you looked after us on our recent holiday. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves in Agropoli, made all the more enjoyable by our accomodation at your villa.

The view from the terrace is truly stunning while the location gave us time and space to savour the atmosphere of a true Mediterranean holiday. It was especially good too that you both took time to introduce us to your way of life. As I am sure we told you many times, for us a holiday is not simply beach, sun and bars. We came for a dip into italian life and came home with exactly the experience we had been seeking.

Wishing you every success with your life and ventures,

Bryan, Eileen, James and Matthew Schofield

Dear Raffaele.

On our way to find my origins in south-Italy, I can honestly say that me and my daughter had a wonderful and relaxing time in the residential apartment of discovery-agropoli. The apartment has been very clean and cosy. Our experience there exceeded our expectations, and the area actuality exceeded the description in the ads we found on the internet. It was a terrific value, you have been very cordial, and helpful during our one week booking. Your tasty barbecues were the best gratification for both of us. The fresh tuna filet was absolutely delicious. I cant thank you enough for your hospitality but I can promise that, if the occasion should arise in the future for me and my family to visit the Cilento area again, I most certainly would seek out the Residential Villa for my vacation. Keep that up fellow, you´ll be very successful one day in you near future ...

Yours sincerely,

John G. Caputo

Dear Raffaele,

we wanted to thank you for your support during our holiday in Agropoli. It was a relaxing time in a peaceful location without stress ! We loved the little town very much, the restaurants, the beaches and we are looking forward to visit Agropoli soon. We didnt expect to find such a nice apartment as we couldnt see anything on the web.The most impressive thing in your house was the breath taking view from the terrace and the sunset over Capri !

Compliments for your nice house !
